Pottery is the craft, but the Glazing is my Art.
Update - Glazed work 7-7-2017 Greenware (Lost 1 Yarn Bowl before I could get it bisqued, It broke. And I lost 1 Cherry Bowl during the 1st firing because the clay was still damp. But I was able to savage the Chip & Dip Bowl with Lid above.) Greenware - Speckled Brown Clay. Had to take the 4 Large Pots to the Cary Art Center to be fired, too large for my small kiln.
7/1/2017 Update: Finished Art Greenware Work this Week The 1st 3 pieces were so beautiful in their chocolate brown greenware state, I hope I didn't overwork them by adding sgraffitto and underglaze color to them. It's all about the glaze. The other 4 pieces were made from leftover clay, had to use it before it dried up on me. Actually they were 4 separate pieces, but the little one fits as a lid to the next smallest. And it also fits as a lid to the middle piece. The piece on the left is red clay with avocado green and blue underglaze. Should be exciting to see what happens, since it is the 1st time I have used underglaze to give my pottery color. Finished pieces.
Featuring this month: Ancient Jasper & PV White Liner Dip Glaze Combo (signature combo) *P30 Pitcher, 32oz. *P20 Pottery Vase *PT30 Serving Tray Also tried a couple of new glaze combos: 1st Smokey Merlot & Seaweed 2nd Chum Plum & Firebrick Red Next Glaze combo was a mistake, I thought I was using Chum Plum but instead it turned out to be Ancient Jasper with FireBrick Red.
Fresh out of the kiln with my signature glaze combo, Ancient Jasper & PV White Liner dip (studio glaze.)
Next we have 3 new glaze combos. Smokey Merlot & Seaweed, Chum Plum & FireBrick Red and last was a mistake. I thought I was glazing it with the Chum Plum Combo but instead I added Ancient Jasper as the accent. The last Big Pottery Vase is glazed in Firebrick Red & Robin's Egg Blue.
